The Orion update for Leap VR has drastically improved hand tracking over the previous generation. I think this update actually makes Leap VR usable. There are still some cases where it gets confused but it re-acquires so quickly and starts working again that it’s manageable. Impressive. I think some really impressive Orion based applications could be made now. Nice job Leap!
The image above is from the new Orion based Blocks demo. You’ll go through a little training at the beginning and learn how to create three different shapes which you can manipulate. You can even manipulate gravity. It’s fun and shows off the new improved Orion tracking quite well. The only other Orion updated application right now is the VR Visualizer found here.
Go try it yourself to find out. The sensors are only $39.99 right now at Best Buy and with the Orion update it’s a no brainier.
