Finally received my Wearality Sky lenses a couple weeks ago. They’re quite good. There is some defocusing as you move from the center as well as some chromatic aberration, but the FOV is giant. The Gear VR looks like it has tunnel vision compared to the Wearality Sky. The problem is the Wearality Sky are only lenses. So when I tried Bandit Six via Google Cardboard with the Sky lenses and compared it to Gear VR, the Sky had much nicer FOV and a decent picture, but the Gear VR overall performance is so much better that I’d still stick with the Gear VR. What I’d like to see is the Sky lenses on the HDK2 or another optimized HMD hardware platform. There are god rays with Sky just like HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, but they’re god circles instead of rays. Overall pretty impressed and I’m looking forward to modding them into an OSVR HDK HMD or similar device.
Update 11-6-16
Just used the Wearality Sky lenses with Google Pixel XL. The Pixel XL gives an overall much better experience. Seems like Google Cardboard games still don’t enable smear reduction which is what I notice the most now. With the VR optimized hardware of the Pixel XL the experience is much better than before. It’s still not as good overall as Gear VR but that’s not the fault of the Sky lenses. The FOV is still quite large compared to Gear VR. Like I mentioned before these lenses will certainly shine when they’re paired with more optimized hardware.
