Wario Land

Wario Land on Virtual Boy is a lot of fun. They do a nice job of using the 3D depth of the system in interesting ways. You can jump from the front of the scene to the back at various points in the levels. There’s a block with arrows that will appear in the ground to signify a jumping point. Other ways to switch between the two depths in a level is sometimes going down or up a tube.

This is one of the better U.S. released games. It plays very much like Mario Bros. would on any other Nintendo platform. I’ve never played a Wario title on any other Nintendo system. A jumps and B can shoot various things like fire when you’re charged up enough to have this power. The left trigger button allows you to run fast and sometimes do a shoulder knock against characters in the game. The left arrow eyes allows you to move the Wario around.

Like most Mario type games you collect games and power ups along the way. In between levels you get the opportunity to play some coin gambling games. Extra lives are available at certain points as well as diamonds that you pick up. Wario Land is a great U.S. title that is probably better than most of the others. This game is going right now for about $30.00 on eBay. You can find them as cheap as $15.00.
